Passport. No visa is needed for Scandinavians.

At the airport or a mall, you can easily get and install a Namibian sim card if you want to avoid a large phone bill.

The currency is Namibian Dollar. Visa, MasterCard, are accepted by most restaurants, shops and hotels. Withdraw cash at the airport upon arrival. Use cash for smaller purchases and tipping.

South African Rand equals the NAD. It is also accepted throughout Namibia.

It’s common to leave a tip of around 10%.

Bring prescription medications you need. Basic first aid kit with bandages, antiseptic cream, and pain relievers. Insect repellant and sunscreen factor 50. Look up what vaccines is required. Malaria pills are not needed

 on this trip as it does not pass through malaria regions.

Monday to Saturday, shops open around 08 and close around 17.

Supermarkets 09 – 19, banks 09-15.30. Restaurant orders should be placed by 21.30.

Namibia uses Type M sockets (round 3 pin – 15 amp). Bring appropriate adapters.

English is the official language. The majority of Namibians learn English as a second language.

When Norway has summer time, there is no time difference. When Scandinavia has winter time, Namibia has +1 hour.

Namibia has little crime. However, petty theft can occur, particularly in Windhoek.

Please listen to your guides. The safety precautions must be taken seriously and strictly adhered to. Keep tent zipped up or doors to you rooms closed to prevent unwanted visitors. Wear closed shoes at night in case of scorpions.

Every guest is responsible for being covered by proper travel insurance.

From May to September, Namibia cools down and dries out more.

Nights can be cold, dropping below freezing in some desert areas. By September it warms up again; at this time game-viewing is at its best.
